Kritika Kultura revisits Phil. historical figures
SOCIAL DISTINCTIONS from two historical decades can be dissected by looking back at the embodiment of Philippine artists and languages.
This was the main theme of the Kritika Kultura (KK) Lecture Series in the Social Sciences Building on August 16.
The series featured the lecture of University of California-Irvine Associate Professor Bliss Cua Lim who analyzed the popularity of Nora Aunor and Sharon Cuneta, the two most notable female stars of Filipino cinema during the 1960s and 1980s respectively, to explore the change in values of beauty and prestige and the country’s language.
An electronic journal of language and literary or cultural studies in the Philippines, KK is also lecture series that presents latest research of scholars from Ateneo’s international network.
