SIXTH MAN OF THE YEAR

Nico Salva (Ateneo)

Statistics: 12.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.0 bpg, 0.1 spg

As the reigning Sixth Man of the Year, Nico Salva has the talent to start for any other team in the UAAP, but a coaching decision pushed him back to the bench after starting the season opener against FEU.  Salva’s transition from starter to sixth man has been seamless, averaging a team high 12.6 points and 6.0 rebounds. His willingness to come off the pine gives Ateneo a scoring threat to dominate opposing second units.

Eric Camson (AdU)

Statistics: 11.0 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 0.6 apg, 0.6 spg, 1.3 bpg

Eric Camson leads all bench players with 7.4 rebounds a game and compliments his glass work with a solid 11.0 points a game.  His ability to play both the 3 and 4 positions allow the Falcons to match up against a variety of opponents, and his ability to run the floor as a big man is invaluable to a team like Adamson who relies heavily on easy baskets on the fast break.

Clark Bautista (UST)

Statistics: 12.7 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 0.9 apg, 0.3 spg, 0.0 bpg

Clark Bautista leads all bench players with a 12.7 point average, topping Nico Salva’s mark by a single point over the first 7 games.  Bautista’s three point shooting acumen is well recorded, leading the league in triples made (26, 3.7 average) and second in accuracy 41.9%.  His ability to hit the three ball opens up the floor for the UST Tigers.  However, team success is a factor in determining award winners and UST’s 3-4 record needs to improve before any of their players receive serious consideration.
