SOSS Sanggu eyes President, reports via web
INVOLVEMENT BEGINS with awareness. The Socio-Political Alliance of the School of Social Sciences (SOSS) Sanggunian has launched Bantay Presidente: The First 100 Days in Power (BP100) – a website assessing the first 100 days of President Benigno Aquino III.
BP100 features daily reports on the new president’s pertaining to the following issues: Human Rights, Foreign Policy and International Relations, Economy, Land Reform, Governance, Education, and Health & Environment. This project is seen as an opportunity for Ateneans to take part and be aware of the country’s political state.
SA Dept. holds first of series of talks
“SURVEYS AND Societal Trends” was the talk that kicked off a series of lectures organized by the Department of Sociology and Anthropology (DAS). Faculty, staff, and students gathered in the MVP roofdeck on July 5 to hear from Pulse Asia President Professor Ronald Holmes and Social Weather Stations (SWS) Deputy Director for Survey and Training Jay Sandoval.
Pulse Asia and SWS are the leading poll organizations in the country, studying social, economic, and political matters. The DAS would like to emphasize the value of research in and by the social sciences as a way of getting to know society as a whole better.
Center for Journ celebrates 10th anniversary
REVIVING “PURE” journalism was the theme as the Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism (ACFJ) commemorated its 10th anniversary with a three-day celebration from June 7 to 9 at the Leong Hall.
The ceremony kicked off with a photo exhibit dubbed “Asian News in Pictures.” The signing of a cooperation agreement between ACFJ and the European Journalism Center served as the highlight of the opening ceremony.
At least 170 journalists, alumni, supporters and dignitaries attended the said event.
