ABS-CBN donates for new multimedia center

Media network ABS-CBN will donate multimedia communication equipment and facilities such as a television, radio and a recording studio to Ateneo as part of the establishment of the Eugenio Lopez Jr. Center for Multimedia Communication (ELJ-CMC).

The heads of the university and ABS-CBN signed a Memorandum of Agreement on December 9 at the Old Rizal Library. The establishment of the multimedia center will begin next year.

Also included in the agreement is ABS-CBN’s partnership with Ateneo in launching academic and outreach programs such as Diploma in Multimedia Production, Teacher Training in Multimedia Communication, and the Eugenio Lopez Jr. Digital Lecture Series.

MEA holds decision management workshop

The Management Engineering Association (MEA) held its very first Corporate Decision Management Workshop and Competition where participants learned fresh techniques on tackling difficult situations in running a company.

The workshop held on February 6 included speakers such as Olay Country Brand Manager Jianina Salindong (BS ME ’08) and Mitchell Madison Group Co-founder and Partner Hans Dau.

The next day, participants, in groups of three, were given a complex situation that must be given a solution using what they learned in the workshop. The winning team would receive Php 10, 000. As of press time, no winners have been announced.

Multimedia Communication Center to be established in ADMU

PHILIPPINE Association of Academic and Research Librarians (PAARL) chose the Ateneo Professional Schools (APS) Library as the 2009 Most Outstanding Academic Library. The award was given on January 29 in Saint Paul University, Quezon City.

Founded in 1973, PAARL is an institution built to encourage development not only in the progress of library systems but also in enhancing librarianship and promoting several services for its members.

Chief librarian Teresita Moran received the award for the APS Library.

ADMU, DLSU partnered for business summit

THE ATENEO de Manila University and De La Salle University (DLSU) held Business Front Liners: How to earn your First Million, a business summit on January 30 at Leong Hall.

The speakers for the summit include journalist Tina Monzon-Palma. Students from different universities attended the talk.

Different business cluster orgs from Ateneo like Ateneo Junior Marketing Association and Management Engineering Association, and DLSU sponsored the event.
