ATF 2010 in focus

Several institutions in the Ateneo have offered incentives for voters to register. The Ateneo School of Government’s “One Big Fight! One Big Vote” voters’ registration raffle offered registered Ateneans a chance to win two Upper A tickets to the August Ateneo-La Salle UAAP game. Meanwhile, sophomores under the Office of Social Concern and Involvements’ NSTP programs were required to register to merit 80 points for their requirements.

My B1g Vote, an ATF 2010 project, has also held hakot registrations and voters’ registration deployments to Comelec offices in cities such as Quezon City, Pasig, Marikina, and Manila on October.

For the voters’ education component, the Sanggu and COA have organized several forums, such as the September 11 “Dare You To Vote” symposium and the ongoing “Sabay Sa Bayan” forums, which featured Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero for the first session on youth and development and Nicanor “Nicky” Perlas for the second session on sustainable development.

In mid-December, mock national elections called Blue Vote 2010 were held involving Loyola Schools students, faculty, and staff. The activity seeks to identify issues relevant to the community. The results will be used in future ATF 2010 activities, such as the creation of political education modules and application in Alternative Class Program activities slated for January 2010.
