TOGETHER WITH the Ateneo Celadon and the Overseas Chinese Alumni Association of the Philippines (OCAAP), the Confucius Institute opened the 2008 Beijing Olympics Photo Exhibit at the Colayco Pavilion on September 22.

The photo exhibit showcased over 500 photos containing highlights of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and previous Filipino Olympians.

Among those present at the opening and ribbon-cutting ceremonies are School of Social Sciences Dean Jose Cruz, SJ, Vice President Ma. Assunta Cuyegkeng, Ph.D., Chinese Studies Program Director Ellen Palanca, Ph.D., and OCAAP Executive Officer Samuel Ong.

THE ATENEO Psyche held its annual Psyche Week from September 15 to 19 at the Colayco Pavilion. The event was also in celebration of the birthday of Psychology Department founder Fr. Jaime Bulatao, SJ.

Psyche Week featured five different contemporary fields of psychology each day, and also included interactive exhibits and different games and activities. The fields of psychology featured were food psychology, sports psychology, multiple intelligence, gender psychology, and forensic psychology.

The event also showcased the different projects of students who are taking Psychology 101 this semester.

THE ATENEO Association of Communication Majors highlighted multimedia journalism in “Digitalizing the Media” on September 12.

Speakers Abigail Kwok (AB Comm ’07), a multimedia reporter from Inquirer.net and a former GUIDONeer, and Sophia Regina Dedace (AB Comm ’08), a news producer for GMANews.tv, discussed the need for multimedia journalism in the country during the seminar. They also shared their experiences regarding multimedia journalism and its difference from print media.

Participants were also tasked to write on-the-spot news reports after the talks.
