AFTER AN intense opening game that went into overtime, the Loyola Gaming (LG) Terra lost steam and fell to the De La Salle University (DLSU) Viridis Arcus Gaming in three games, 13-15, 10-13, 3-13, in the Esports AcadArena (EAA) University Alliance Cup – Valorant Season 2 grand finals earlier today.

LG Terra Team Captain Justin “LG Dippy” Ngkaion led the Blue and White with 52 kills and 17 assists while playing as the agent Sova. Meanwhile, Dominic “LG skwamy” Juan contributed 42 kills and 24 assists playing the agent Viper in games one and three and Raze in game two.

On the Green and White side, Xavi “SS xavi8k” Juan inflicted 88 kills and 23 assists en route to winning Logitech’s Lodi of the Game award, which is presented to the best performing player on the winning team.

The first half of game one was a closely contested affair as both teams traded blows highlighted by an early quadruple kill from Timmy “LG yabba” Albert in round two and an ace from Xavi Juan in round seven. The half ended at a stalemate, 6-6. At the start of the second half, the Blue and White came alive with a 4-0 run to establish a 10-6 lead. However, DLSU fought back to force overtime and ultimately stole game one, 13-15.

Trailing behind in the previous game, LG Terra struggled against DLSU who started out strong in game two as they took an 8-4 lead at the end of the first half. Inspired by Ken “LG Flex” Uy’s quadruple kill in round 19, the Blue and White attempted a comeback. However, even after closing the gap to two points, 10-12, DLSU put a cap on game two after a well-coordinated round 23, 10-13.

With their backs against the walls, LG Terra fought back against DLSU’s strong start as they took an early 3-0 lead. However, the Blue and White eventually fell into a tilt as Viridis Arcus Gaming went on a blistering 13-0 run to claim game three, 3-13. With their sweep in the finals, DLSU was crowned back-to-back champions of the University Alliance Cup.

Despite the loss, Albert was still proud of the team’s resilience and fight throughout the match. “I think the team played great despite the loss. Of course, we can dwell on getting more kills individually to secure the wins, but well-played to VA [DLSU] for sweeping us,” he shared.

Dominic Juan – “LG skwamy”

Matthew Brillantes – “LG Matteo”

Timmy Albert – “LG yabba”
