Geva de Vera played the first match for the Blue and White against UST’s Kate Tating. De Vera eventually snatched the first win of the day in dominating fashion, 21-6, 21-5.
Following the convincing win, Team Captain Samantha Ramos donned the Blue and White against Daine Peña for the second singles match. Similar to the previous match, the Ateneo shuttler dominated her Thomasian counterpart to seal the game in two sets, 21-9, 21-6.
With only one more win needed to seal the victory against UST, de Vera was paired with Chanelle Lunod to dispatch the duo of Ann Pimentel and Stephanie Mortera. Ateneo’s second tandem of Ramos and Bea Felizardo had a difficult time finding their groove in the first set, given that they had not yet featured together this season. Despite some hurdles in the latter stages of the first set, the duo walked away with a 21-17 victory. The second set was more successful for the duo, as they closed out Kate Tating and Daine Peña, 21-7.
