TEAM CAPTAIN

Bianca Carlos

Stepping up as this year’s new shuttlers captain, Carlos expects nothing but glory in the upcoming season for the Women’s badminton team.
“I have to lead them. I need to push them more, encourage them more. This is a team event and everyone needs to help each other—I’ll be the first [one to do that].”

RETURNING VETERANS

Trixie Malibiran

Coming back from a season on the sidelines due to injury, former captain Trixie Malibiran is geared up and ready for a return. Boasting of the versatility to compete as a singles or doubles player, Malibiran is looking to finish the season on top.

Cassie Lim

Backed by Team Captain Bianca Carlos as one of the possible standout players of the season, singles player Cassie Lim will be looking to build on last year’s 2nd place finish and claiming a gold in the upcoming season.

NEW RECRUITS

Sam Ramos

Singles specialist and new recruit Sam Ramos will be looking to fill a crucial role for the lady shuttlers this coming UAAP season. With more than enough competitive experience on the national level, the Assumption Antipolo graduate will surely be an important player for Coach Asuncion.

Chanelle Lunod

Rookie Chanelle Lunod will go straight into a pivotal doubles role for the Lady Shuttlers this season. The Miriam College alumna holds a vast experience in national competitions such as the Palarong Pambansa, where she claimed two golds and a silver.

COACH’S CORNER

Kennie Asuncion

Playing the double role of coaching both the Men’s and Women’s Badminton teams, Coach Kennie Asuncion will not go for anything but gold in the 79th edition of the UAAP. Having won bronze in both the SEA Games and the US Open tournaments, Asuncion’s experiences of the highest level of competitive play will be a main factor in developing a title-challenging team this season.
