After leaving the NCAA in 1978, the Ateneo joined the UAAP in the same year. Since then, the school has excelled not only in basketball, but in other sports as well. We look at the numbers and see the accomplishments of Team Ateneo.


5 Men’s Football Championships

4 Men’s Basketball Championships

3 Men’s Judo Championships

2 Men’s Badminton Championships and Women’s Basketball Championships

1 Women’s Swimming Championship, Men’s Lawn Tennis Championship, Women’s Fencing Championship and Women’s Badminton Championship

The Story of the Stations

Before Studio23 brought UAAP popularity to new heights with revolutionary advertising and sufficient airtime, there were several other networks that had made their own mark on the league.

Late 1980’s

As the Ateneo-La Salle rivalry was revived, interest in UAAP television coverage started with Channel 13.

1990- 1991

Viva-Vintage covered UAAP games with the likes of Quinito Henson, Chiqui Roa, and Tommy Manotoc as commentators

1991- 2000

Silverstar Sports was given the rights to cover the games, first under RPN 9 then under PTV 4

2000-present

With ABS-CBN winning coverage rights, massive improvements were seen in game present coverage. The network introduced the use of crane cameras, school courtside reporters, and high-definition broadcast on Sky Cable
