DESPITE FAILING to enter the Final Four last season following their fifth-place finish, the Ateneo Women’s Volleyball Team (AWVT) reenters the fray with an indomitable drive to restore its championship pedigree. Fully immersed in now second-year coach Sergio Veloso’s tactical creed, the Blue Eagles aspire to usher in a new era of undaunted excellence and stake their claim to volleyball supremacy. Heralding this year’s quest for glory is Team Captain Lyann De Guzman, joined by ever-reliable veterans AC Miner, Zel Tsunashima, and Taks Fujimoto. Together, these accomplished players are at the helm of forging formidable attacks and crosscourt bombs for the Blue and White. Newcomers Jihan Chuatico and Fiona Arroyo also seek to reinforce the nest with their offensive kills and stifling defense. Leveraging their mixture of seasoned experience and beaming youth, the AWVT will soon take flight to reach greater horizons. Fueled by sheer will and ardent spirits, the Katipunan-based squad is set to shatter narratives and contest the UAAP power order this Season 87.
