AFTER FINISHING in fifth place last season, the Ateneo Softball Team (AST) is eager to leave last season’s shortcomings behind and usher in a new era as they head into Season 87. Despite their fourth-place finish two seasons ago, the Katipunan-based unit struggled throughout Season 86, taking an unfortunate step back in terms of performance. However, the Blue and White remain undeterred by setbacks as they continue their quest for glory, with this year’s squad led by Team Captains Raya Franco and Rocio Macasaet. The AST’s core is rounded out with returnees Asya Tuprio, Burns Yap, and Jesa Daquigan, providing a strong foundation for the Blue Eagles. Their ranks are further bolstered with incoming recruits, headlined by talented prospects John Czelle Basa and Andrea Daquigan. Despite being tagged as underdogs, the Blue and White are ready to show the league what they can do and become a force to reckon with in the UAAP. Win or lose, this gritty batch of Blue Eagles will surely not go down without a fight.
