Adorned with Aspiration

ASPIRING TO reach the peak in UAAP Season 87, the Ateneo Women’s Judo Team (AWJT) looks to hone their skills and refine their strategies in their conquest for consecutive podium finishes. Crowned Season 86 bronze medalists, the Blue Eagles are focused on amassing more hardware, following last season’s impressive performance that earned them one gold and three silver medals. With Team Captains Yza Claravall and Maxine Mababangloob at the helm, the AWJT took the offseason to compete in both local and multinational tournaments, challenging elite athletes across Southeast Asia. The judokas are composed of adept veterans, with the likes of sophomore Robynne Gonzales maturing with each competition. The team also looks to bank on their spark plug rookies, including Kristen Geslani, who brings raw talent and fresh techniques to the tatami mats. Guided by coaches Ali Sulit, Robert Divina, and Gilbert Ramirez, the AWJT is putting forth experience, tenacity, and discipline in their flight toward the UAAP mountaintop.
