WITH A fresh slate after years of being undermanned, the retooled Ateneo Women’s Football Team (AWFT) is focused on bringing a medal back to Loyola Heights this Season 87. At the helm of the AWFT are new Team Captains KC Zalamea and Soleil Schroth, who aim to help strengthen the team’s on and off-field chemistry. Alongside them, Season 86 standout Angely Alferez headlines the squad, primed to take a leap after an impressive rookie campaign. Seeing vast improvements in the previous year, the Blue Eagles have bolstered their lineup by recruiting Joshper Halili and national team member Jada Bicierro. In addition to their reinforcements, the AWFT will also benefit from the return of several veterans from injury, such as Astrid Ignacio, Andie Avedillo, and national team member Joyce Semacio. Despite the quick turnaround between the previous season and Season 87, the Blue and White remains steadfast in their commitment to reaching the podium for the first time since 2017.
