ENDURING LAST season’s gut-wrenching fifth-place finish, the Ateneo Women’s Beach Volleyball Team (AWBVT) aims to surge back into the podium in UAAP Season 87. The Blue Eagles have high hopes of producing a deep season run, as they are bolstered by a promising roster seeking to help the team achieve its first medal since 2019. Making their debut are rookies Ten Quimpo and Season 85 Girls’ Beach Volleyball Most Valuable Player Grydelle Matibag, who aim to stamp their class this season and bring their headstrong demeanor and years of hard work to the collegiate scene. With an improved lineup, Team Captain Gena May Hora and veteran Beautiliza Lomocso will spearhead the Blue and White, as they return to the sands with renewed ardor. Looking to take further strides this season, the Blue Eagles are dead set on returning to the Final Four and testing their mettle anew against the league’s perennial contenders.
