THE ATENEO Women’s Track and Field Team (AWTFT) is ready to surpass greater hurdles after finishing sixth in UAAP Season 81. Despite not reaching their desired result, the AWTFT is eager to face the challenges that lie ahead in Season 85. Raring to compete in the forthcoming season, the team is bringing back notable gold medalist Pole Vaulter Jia Kawachi, along with Season 81’s Silver Medalist Triple Jumper Viah Mostoles.

This season’s team will be led by Team Captain Sophie Cua along with multiple new faces: Sabina Angeles, Louise Cabrera, Alessandra Dueñas, Franxine Regalado, and Jasha Tan. Although unfamiliar with the UAAP, the young guns are guided by seasoned veterans who will pave the way for their first laps. They will also be mentored by Coach Sean Guevarra, who has years of coaching experience under his belt, Coach Ernie Candelario, and Coach Marestella Torres-Sunang.

Now, with new coaches and athletes on the track, the AWTFT is expected to beat their past records and outperform their opponents to bring the hardware back to Katipunan.
