Men’s Track and Field

COMING BACK from a three-year hiatus, the Ateneo Men’s Track and Field Team (AMTFT) is ready to conquer the field with a roster boosted by new talent. The Blue Eagles last competed in UAAP Season 81 with a sixth-place finish after garnering a total of 76 points, but they now hope to improve in the upcoming season with their full line-up.

Transitioning to an online setup was difficult for the Blue Eagles, with training mainly consisting of stationary workouts. However, veteran coaches Sean Guevara and Mick Perez are joined by Coach Ernie Candelario and Coach Marestella Torres-Sunang to bring their squad back to greatness.

Coach Perez reminds his graduating athletes that they are “starting from zero” since none of them were able to compete for the seniors’ division of the UAAP. Nonetheless, Team Captain Ray Vicente—one of the team’s eight graduating players—will lead the reloaded Blue Eagles in their comeback year. As the AMTFT returns to the Blue Oval, all eyes are set on bringing the golden hardware to Katipunan.
