THE ATENEO Women’s Lawn Tennis Team has long been regarded as one of the most promising title contenders in the league. Coming into UAAP Season 85, they now aspire to finally fulfill that ambition.
The Blue Eagles have already established a winning culture in recent years, notching silver in Season 80 and bronze in Season 81. Ateneo has only continued to raise that standard with its consistently high level of player development, ultimately producing the Rookie of the Year in the last five consecutive seasons.
Steering the rookie-laden pack now are Team Captains Beatrice De Ocampo and Melanie Faye Dizon under the guidance of Head Coach Jennifer Jade Saret. Despite a young team composed of more rookies than seniors—solely with pre-season tournaments to bank on for experience—camaraderie will be the main ingredient in defying the odds.
The appearance of standout rookie Althea Ong on the roster also increases the Blue and White’s winning prospects, presenting a chance to prove themselves and inch closer to their first-ever UAAP crown.
