A Message from the Editors

ATENEO SPORTS IS BACK AND BETTER.

This year will go down in history as one of the most memorable periods for Ateneo sports as it fully embraces the sweeping changes made in the coronavirus outbreak. After two years of canceled and limited events in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), we will witness a full calendar that restores the sports back to their former glory.

As the UAAP shifts back into full throttle, The GUIDON Sports is more ready than ever to chronicle the stories of Ateneo’s athletic breakthroughs. Following a turbulent past few years, it is our mission to produce well-rounded narratives that encapsulate the beauty of sports and the people that surround them.

As we endeavor towards an era of sports packed with human-centric stories, we hope to remain committed to the thrust of our organization—to defend the Truth. We dedicate this primer to the whole Ateneo community, athletes, coaches, and people on the sidelines, who continuously endure shared troubles and nevertheless choose to press forward in their sports. Located within this primer are the individual journeys of the Ateneo teams as they come together in the hopes of conquering the upcoming UAAP Season 85. It is our hope that through these accounts of unwavering athletic excellence, the Atenean school spirit is reignited in our renewed fight for the Blue and White.

EDITOR’S NOTE: In the initial release of the UAAP Season 85 Volume 1 Primer, the Track and Field, and Judo teams were not included due to internal and external miscommunications. The Beach Volleyball teams were also not included due to logistical concerns. We sincerely apologize for the erroneous oversight. The teams have since been included on the primer.

We deeply apologize to the teams involved and our readers affected by this oversight.
